Cuff Links & Stud Sets

Cuff links are seen as more formal, so, fittingly, you're generally going to want to wear them for the most formal dress codes. They are almost always associated with black-tie attire, but they don't need to stop there. Cuff links elevate your style and are that extra touch that shows that you pay attention to detail. So, you can wear them with a dress shirt or tuxedo shirt, and also with business attire.

In general, you want to match the metal color of your cuff links to other items in your outfit such as your rings or your belt buckle. Some people even match it to their luggage or their suitcases.

When you buy a stud set they will arrive in a set of four. You don't always have to wear the compete set. If you choose a Windsor tie and vest for example, you can easily leave the studs at home as they will not be visible under the large tie. However, if you are wearing a bow tie, you should always have the studs and cuff links on display to complete your look.

Find the stud hole that is next to each pearl button on the front of your shirt. Now, starting from the inside of the shirt, insert the front (the decorative side) of the stud through the hole. If your shirt comes with pearl buttons, simply ignore them as they are not needed when you have a pair of studs to act as the fasteners. Next feed the stud (which is your button now) through the front button hole on the shirt. Repeat this step for the remaining button holes and you're done. It is that easy.
